“Analysis of the in-vehicle power distribution network as a digital transmission medium”, Funded by: Junta de Andalucía. Main researcher: Dr. Francisco Javier Cañete. 2008-2010. hide details

Description

The objective of this project is to analyse automobile power line networks when used as a digital transmission medium. Nowadays, there are many electrical devices on-board the vehicles, for instance, sensors, control units and actuators. They provide different functionalities like injection, stability control, traction control systems, automatic lights, apart from other new multimedia equipment. A dedicated data network is installed in cars to interconnect all these devices and the purpose is to substitute this network by using instead the power grid. To this end, a channel characterizacion is being carried out, based on a measurement campaign on actual vehicles, that allows to construct mathematical models of the channels behavior. Moreover, simulation and evaluation of tranmission techniques adapted to these channels is being performed.
